Ducks for meat (Reddit r/homestead thread)¶
Authority: Anecdotal (per summary)—not a controlled trial; pair extension / NRCS sources for husbandry standards.
Raw path: raw/processed/2026/ducks-for-meat-reddit-homestead.md
Summary: First-hand comparison of ~40 Pekins vs Cornish Cross—chicken tractor vs poultry netting, feed/water labor, plucking difficulty, dress weights (~4.5–5 lb broilers at 7 wk vs ducks ~3.5 lb), pinfeather windows, noise, and pond vs water mess. Opinionated; anecdotal not a trial.
